Should Dick Cheney Be Impeached?

On April 24, 2007, U.S. House Representative Dennis Kucinich introduced H.Res. 333, calling for articles of impeachment to be sent to the U.S Senate with regards to Vice President Richard B. Cheney.

The grounds of the proposed impeachment are that the Vice President 1) fabricated a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, 2) purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda, and 3) has threatened aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United States, all in detriment to the national interest of the United States.

Oil seemed to be on Mr. Cheney's mind when he told the 3,500 to 4,000 members of the Stennis's crew 150 miles off Iran's coast on May 11th that the U.S. was prepaired to use its naval power to keep Tehran from distruputing oil routes or "gaining nuclear weapons." This was reminiscent of Mr. Cheney's speeches during the runup to the war in Iraq in August of 2002, which argued against sending weapons inspectors back in. The weapons inspectors were sent in, and Bush said Saddam didn't let them, but while he was saying that we were watching inspectors on the ground bulldozing Al-Samud missiles. The inspectors didn't find any W.M.D.'s, so Bush told them to leave before "Shock and Awe" began.

This is deja' vu all over again.

"Back in the days of "Shock and Awe", we came to liberate them all."
-Neil Young

Dick Cheney along with Paul Wolfowitz and Harlan K. Ullman and others, were the achitects of "Shock and Awe". The "D.C. Madam", Deborah Jeane Palfrey recently named Harlan K. Ullman as "one of the regular customers" of the high-end escort service. These men proclaim themselves to belong to the party of "moral values".

A senior U.S. diplomat said, "He still kind of runs by his own rules." This would confirm Cheney's statement to Tim Russert on Meet the Press on Septemeber 16th, 2001.

"We also have to work, though, sort of the dark side, if you will. We've got to spend time in the shadows in the intelligence world. A lot of what needs to be done here will have to be done quietly, without any discussion, using sources and methods that are available to our intelligence agencies, if we're going to be successful. That's the world these folks operate in, and so it's going to be vital for us to use any means at our disposal, basically, to achieve our objective."

Impeaching this dangerous chicken hawk would have many benifits. It would immediately lower the blood pressure of the world by eliminating everyone's fear and anxiety, thereby lowering the risk of global conflict. It would also be a important civics lesson to the world that future politicians like Cheney cannot get away with mass murder and war profiteering during their reign of terror, only to be pardoned after leaving office.
